We talked last time about the pop culture pantheon and what it is. You should remember already that the pop-culture pantheon is created upon the beings appearing in the books, and worshipped. So what are the Elder Gods from H.P Lovecraft books?
Who is H.P. Lovecraft?
He is an American writer, who created the books about Elder Gods such as Cthulhu. You can read his biography online, so there isn't a point in actually sharing it here. The most important thing is that he always claimed he writes the stories he sees in his dreams and the spirits which follows him everywhere. We might never know if it's true, but we already know spirits can communicate with us over the dream realm. His stories are usually based on the non-emotional universe and dark spirits which brings horror and macabre of many sorts. An interesting fact is that even if he never had any sort of influence related to the occult or magic, the rituals he described are working and are based on the true things.
Whom are the Elder Gods?
The stories portrait them as some sort of monsters beings, which are bringing only horror, pain and despair. The stories, which were written about them by Lovecraft are usually called horror stories.
Lovecraft described quite a big pantheon of deities older than this world, who walked the Earth before humans and were banished as they lost the war. And yet they still want to come back to the Earth and await the perfect time for that.
But what is the truth about them? I can only share the parts I had channelled on my own and share my own experience. So as much as I was explained by Yog-Sototh they came from another universe, trying to explore the places lower from their own. They opened some sort of portal in between, holding some sort of castle as someplace constantly having the open portal, with Yog Sototh being the gatekeeper. The place can be accessed only if they wish to show it. Inside is a room showing some sort of galactic in dark purple and violet colour, but it can also show you the places existing in their home place. Surprisingly for some, their home is very calm thought surrounded by weird architecture, darkness and violet sun.
My own experience
Well, I mentioned before I channelled some information from them - and yes I worked several times with them, always having a very nice experience. My friend was asking her guided about them and was simply explained that they are primordial monsters..so they aren't beings belonging only to the pool culture pantheon. They are actual beings and that could be felt when you summon them. Though my own experience is also based on other lifetimes, which I spent learning from them, as I was explained - they aren't usually very friendly beings. They demand respect, much of it. They are dark, even darker than the demons. I met only 3 of them, though I never needed to work with the other ones - they will have their own posts to present the experience. I can that demons aren't very happy when you work with them. I never asked about that but there is some sort of tension between these two pantheons. However, as I mentioned, they appeared to be friendly and helpful when I asked for help. In fact even very protective in many ways.
Do I consider them to be the egregores created by humans?
No, I think they are more than simply a pop culture pantheon. In fact, Lovecraft wrote the books based on his dreams and visions, not his fantasy. So the spirits existed before he wrote the books, so they can't be egregores. Also, egregores don't have that much power when they are summoned. The amount of energy which you can feel by opening their sigils is much more than some demons I worked with, which can't be something egregores would do. So yes I would say that they are real spirits, though some people might mess them with pop culture spirits.
