Popculture Pantheon - are that spirits real or not ?

There is one topic I wish to write about for a while... but never feel ready to do so. But maybe finally the time came for this topic. Many of us noticed that spirits appear in a specific way in movies or books - some people actually try to summon that spirit and name that as "pop culture pantheon" so I decided to dig this topic a bit.
When we watch movies, especially the ones based on myths, we never think deeper into the truth behind them. We don't also notice that even if they are based on the mythology, they are often partially true - or simply a representation of what the producer seems the mythology to be. Many people seem to believe that the beings they see in the movie are the same as the real being from the myths. On that is based the pop culture pantheon - on the beings you see in the movies or want to create on your own. You can use the spirits and rituals from books, movies or games. Everything could be used for this such pantheon - you could also create your pantheon here.
But this brings to us another question - how do we see the difference between the spirits from mythology and books? Aren't they the same?
So far I can say, that the mythologies are older, and usually were based on the multiple myths passed from family to family and based on the original beings behaviours. While the pop-culture pantheon gods are based on the stories or books/movies etc created as somebody's idea. They were planned and created by humans influencing a bit of their own mind and creativity into that. So where the original mythology is based on the original Gods - the pop culture is only human-made. Yes, it does involve the pieces of stories from the mythology, that spirits are nothing alike usually.
In honesty - they aren't different from the egregores we were talking about some time ago.
I will remind you what is egregore:
The easiest way to explain would be something similar to the servitor, also made up from energy, but when servitors are projected, egregores are manifested by a group of people believing in something. The best example of it would be Catholic/Christian God, Yehovah. While Yahweh is an actual war God from Canaanite mythology, Yehovah is a human-created egregore. I don't really want to go into details here, we will write another post about that topic. But the more people believe in egregore, the more power it gains.
Based on the believes humans have about the specific spirit while watching the movie, the specific beliefs are created. Yes, some movies are created because spirits want us to learn more about them - then this sort of energy indeed feeds the specific spirit. That doesn't happen that often as humans believe. Mostly the spirits or names represented in the movies have nothing to do with the original spirit. They might attract us to learn more about them, or simply guide us into a specific spirit, but usually, that sort of beings we see in the movies and belies the Gods to be are simply human-made egregores. Yes, you can work with them, or give them some sort of power - but in the longer turn, they wouldn't be the same power as original Gods. You might try to cast rituals found in fantasy books - they might be working, depending on how many emotions and your own personal power you will put inside of it. As our power depends on emotions and your will, anything will work if you pour enough of the powder into it, but I wouldn't be expecting that the spirits made by humans would be able to help you in any form. It could be some sort of fun to test and see, but somehow I cannot imagine working with egregores for a longer time - it wouldn't bring any sort of changes into your life or be able to guide you appropriately.
You might notice after some time that your abilities and powers instead of growing weaken.
What kind of spirits could be considered the pop culture pantheon?
I suppose any, as long as they are created by humans and come from movies, books or games which aren't dedicated to the original mythology. So yes, if you have your favourite book character, you might actually summon them and talk with them. You might do rituals with them either, but again - they wouldn't be bringing too many changes into your own work.
How do you know if the magic book I am reading is talking about God or egregore?
I suppose that question is a pretty good one, especially when there exist so many books about magic. I can only suggest you two things, to do that.
First - read about specific spirits. Learn their myths, other magicians experiences, learn about their behaviours. You should remember that egregores behave as we expect them to behave, without having any other behaviour on their own. Yes, many people claim that original Gods behave the same way - trust me, they do not. If you can unblock your empathic abilities, you should be able to notice the difference. Not only in the power, energy in vibrations but also in emotions. Egregores doesn't have emotions, God does have them.
The other thing I can suggest to you is to learn about the person who wrote that book. Does the book look like a magic book? Explain all your questions? Does it explain all about the spirits? Pop culture pantheon seems to be a new thing, which isn't that popular yet, so you might not find as much information in books about it.
Anyways I hope you enjoyed the post, but this is just an entry for the original topic I wish to write about in the next week.
