Her origin: Santa Muerte is recognized as a female deity that comes from the Mexican-American culture. This saint has gone from relative anonymity to being at the very centre of the largest and fastest-growing religious movement in the world. Previous to the coming of the Spanish conquistadors, the Aztecs who settled in the area that is now known as central Mexico worshipped Mictecacihuatl, also recognized as the “Lady of the Dead.” This pre-Columbian goddess of death was the ruler of the Underworld and was often depicted as a part skeleton or having a skull for a head, very similar to Santa Muerte.

Helping with: her colours can help with a lot of things. For example, Black colour can help protect from black magick and spiritual attacks. She can help with work on necromancy too. That aspect relates to death. When she comes ghosts and the underworld creates follow her too. You should be able to handle death energy. Purple energy: That energy of her like a grandmother. She feels old and wise. She has a crown and throne. That aspect of her relationship with magick like for increasing psychic abilities, for prophetic dreams, and other forms of dreamwork, and for finding spiritual peace and harmony.

From my own perspective: We can work with Santa Muerte with her statues and colours. As for colours, we can see her as featuring cloaks of different colours - even cloaks of multiple colours. In Santa Muerte magick, each cloak corresponds to a different type of energy, and working with the appropriate coloured Santa Muerte is a good way to focus your intent toward your magickal objective. But colours represent the different aspects of the same Santa Muerte, they are not different entities. They are just another face of her.
