Hematite

Hematite was used as pigment for a long while. It's sacred to the war God Mars.

The stone of the warriors, iron-based and red. The very masculine energy of it can be used in multiple ways.

Colours: steel, silver-grey. Red inside.

Chakras: root

Planet: Mars

Zodiac: Aries, Aquarius and Scorpio.

Healing:

Stimulates places where you need energies, helps with blood, heart, brain, liver, lungs, spleen, lower abdominal organs, staunch blood flow in wounds and is used to stop excessive menstrual bleeding and treat blood disorders.

Magical use:

A very protective stone, for energy loss and protection from the radiation of earth, veins and watercourses. Hematite grounds and protects, and strengthens the will. In common with many iron minerals, it has a masculine “warrior” energy, thereby supporting the ability to survive and the desire for further development. It is used to deflect away negative energy and “ill-wishing.

Myth:

The only mentions I was able to find, were that hematite was born on the battlefields from the soldier's blood..because it was red as blood is often called "bloodstone" and dedicated to Mars, as Mars as a planet also contains a huge amount of iron.

Personal notes:

It's a good stone to use for any kind of protection really. Quite strong, but have easily accepted energy. Used to re-cleanse other stones, because of that shouldn't be kept with any other stone together. Mixing with water make it melt and show red colour. The masculine energy of his stone is very protective and once you will start working with it you will notice cold energy until you will be familiar with it. For me, it lits cold every time there is something negative around as some sort o warning.
