My personal Altar - how to make it?

This would be a very useful post if you are a baby witch or a newbie who plans their first altar and ritual space. I will guide you on how to make it, and what you might need to have your perfect altar space.

What is an altar?

The altar is a sacred space, where you can give your offerings, mediate next to it, do your readings or summon your spirits. Literally - it's your place for anything magic related. This is is also why you need to have one which represents you and your own believes.

Why the specific place is important?

Because you will spend a lot of time with it. The more you work on magic, the more there is to do, and the more energy you will push into your working, the stronger there place you work. So yes with time you might notice that spells and rituals are easier to do in your own altar, instead of anywhere. Portals also are opening with so much power in one place and it's easier to manifest spirits there.

How It should look like?

Well ...how do you want it to look like? There might be several things which you should place there, but everything should describe you. So yes, you might find candles in flower shape, if you love them etc.

For sure you will need candles - either led ones, or normal ones. Standard things for the altar is chalice, athame, wand and cauldron, you might want to add a bell and your own book of shadows or tarot deck. They to find the decor which you like and which represents you. If you work with a spirit or want to - you might add a little statue or their sigil into it. I can show you how my personal altar looked like during Samhain.

So I will show you what I used to do with my altar, eagle is symbolic for my guides, the same as goat head is symbolic for Azazel, my main guide. The tree branches and leaves were symbolic of the Mabon and Samhain season, and so is the pumpkin. Chalice related to the water element stands next to the clay shell and holds little hearts dedicated to other spirits working with me. The chestnuts are known for protection from negative energy, the pine cones are every giving hope... The butterfly is a symbol of the faerie kind. You might see the black roses which are my favourite flowers and represent my darkness. Next to it, you can see my pendulum. Usually, on the altar you will see led candles, as the place I live doesn't let me use them. You might not see it, but in the branches, there is also a bell and on the altar are multiple pentagrams. The little angel figure stands for my other guide - archangel Michael. There are also several crystals everywhere, for different purposes. The right side is empty because usually, I place my cards there during the readings I do for myself.

So this is how I created my altar. It represents elements of mine, and represent me, and my main guides. There is also a place for other spirits and elements. Let that be your inspiration, together with the other post:

Remember it should be placed somewhere, where you wouldn't be disturbed and where is much so silenced. Personally, I would suggest a bedroom or attic hide yourself. My personal Altar - how to place it?
