[Weekly Choice] Ogham Runes

What are they?

When we think about runes we associate them with the Nordic pantheon..but did you know that Celts had their own runes. They are less popular in witches practices but can be used the same way as Nordic ones.

The meaning:

They symbolize one of the earliest alphabets and can be also used for divination...or connecting with nature and trees. Why? Because every rune symbolizes one specific tree and its properties. There are twenty original ogham trees in turn. They are traditionally grouped into four 'aicmes' or tribes, each named after the first tree in their group. We, therefore, have the Aicme of Beith, or birch, the aicme of huath, or hawthorn, the aicme of muin, or blackberry, and the aicme of ailm, or pine. Every tree has its own meaning and significance, its botanical description, lore and legend, practical and magical uses, a tree's uses in healing, and its divinatory meaning. Every tree is also seen as a separated being with its own character. In the classes of weekly choice, we will move over every single rune.

If you are interested in learning more about them I will suggest Celtic Tree Magic by Danu Forest as I will be using that book in our classes.
